ABOUT THE DOCTOR
Dr. Benjamin Hardyk takes pride in providing the highest quality orthodontic treatment to the entire family. His treatment plans are individualized to meet the different needs of each and every patient.
Professional Background:
Dr. Hardyk earned his post-doctoral certificate in the specialization of orthodontics and orofacial orthopedics at the prestigious Eastman Institute of Oral Health in Rochester, NY.
Prior to that, Dr. Hardyk attended the internationally renouned UCSF School of Dentistry in San Francisco for his doctoral degree in dentistry. At both schools, Dr. Hardyk worked extensively with the Cleft and Craniofacial Treatment Teams. He has worked on a number of research projects, including an extensive study examining the effects of the orthodontic expander appliance using 3-dimensional cone beam CT scans.
Prior to beginning his work in dentistry and orthodontics, Dr. Hardyk worked as a professional classical musician, performing with a variety of orchestras, opera companies, and chamber music groups in North America and Europe.
Community Service:
Dr. Hardyk is a strong advocate for providing support for those in need in the community. During his dental studies at UCSF, Dr. Hardyk worked extensively with the UCSF homeless dental clinic as both a treating provider and administrator. He also assisted with the UCSF Hepatitis B Initiative, that focuses on diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of the Hepatitis B virus by providing free testing and vaccines. Dr. Hardyk continues his support for the local community by providing free athletic mouth guards to all athletes at local schools in the Oakley, Antioch, Brentwood, and Rio Vista areas.
Personal Interests:
In his spare time, Dr. Hardyk enjoys a wide variety of outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, fishing, SCUBA diving, and golf. He often can be found on the ski slopes of Lake Tahoe in the winter, or at local concerts and art festivals year round.
